Mick and Jeanine Craven, the passionate pair behind Craven Wines, began their winemaking journey in 2013 with a clear vision: to capture the essence of Stellenbosch. They focus on making small batches and only sourcing grapes from single vineyards to let each unique terroir speak for itself.
The couple are ready to share their latest release! The 2024 Pinot Gris and Cinsaut were released in December. The Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, new Grenache and Syrah benefit from a few extra months in bottle. All of the Craven wines are single vineyard site-specific wines from Stellenbosch.
The Stellenbosch power couple favour a hands-off approach in the winery, focusing much more of their efforts in the vineyards throughout the year. They plan to transition to 100% concrete fermentation within the next few years, with their Chardonnay being the final wine to be fermented in old French oak.
The wines are pure with lovely texture and a building tension throughout the palate. The 2024 wines show even more nuance and complexity than the 2023s.
This vintage sees the very exciting addition of a Grenache from Stellenbosch – right over the hill from the Pinot Gris vineyard. Working with this vineyard is a dream come true for the couple.

Craven Vintage 2024 Mixed Case
5% Discount + Free Delivery
This is a mixed case of 2024 vintage wines from Craven.
Whole bunch pressed, fermented in old oak and moved to concrete for 7 months.
“This wine exudes orchard blossom, lemon, and apple on the nose. The palate is understated but equally precise, with pure fruit and racy acidity leading to a dry finish. 93/100”
Whole bunch pressed, concrete fermented and aged in concrete.
“This wine offers aromas of quince, peach, and soft citrus. The palate delivers impressive flavor intensity, balanced by punchy acidity, while the finish is deeply savory with a slight grip. It showcases the fruit density expected from old vines, complemented by precise, focused winemaking. 93/100”
“Teasing aromatics of red and black berries, flowers, spearmint and fynbos. The palate is lean and fresh, the finish dry – much to like but there’s a sense that future vintages will be even more convincing as the vines become more established.”
“Alluring aromatics of violets, black berries, a pleasant leafy note and pepper. The palate is beautifully sappy and harmonious – excellent fruit concentration and bright acidity before appropriately firm tannins, the finish super-dry and persistent. Best release yet. 96/100”
